About Itanya Africa Group
We are a dynamic non-profit organization formed in 2023 committed to capacity building, building resilient instruments, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), and the application of behavioral science to empower women and youth in agriculture through grounded practices. Our evidence-based approach strategically integrates these pillars, aiming to uplift smallholder farmers’ livelihoods across Africa.
Our Key Pillars
- Capacity Building: We equip women and youth with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to succeed in agriculture. This involves training on regenerative agriculture, financial literacy workshops, and water infrastructure development.
- Building Resilient Instruments: We focus on creating sustainable solutions that help farmers weather challenges. This involves promoting syntropic agroforestry, drought-resistant crops, constructing water pans, and establishing Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) to provide financial security.
- Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI): We recognize the unique challenges faced by women in agriculture and work to address them. Our interventions are gender transformative to ensure that inclusion is part of our activities.
- Application of Behavioral Science: We leverage behavioral science insights to design interventions that are more likely to be adopted by farmers. This could involve using nudges to encourage sustainable practices, framing messages in a way that resonates with local cultural beliefs, or utilizing social norms to promote positive change.
